I’m both excited and emotional about completing my Mekong-Australia Partnership (MAP) scholarship, and I’m grateful for the life-changing experiences gained during my time in Australia.
My scholarship provided me with opportunities for professional development and networking with emerging leaders from Cambodia, Lao PDR, Viet Nam, Thailand, and Myanmar. This allowed us to exchange ideas on important issues facing our nations and possible solutions. I hope that at some point in the future, we’ll meet again.
This journey has been truly life-changing. I’ve learned that my next visit to Australia will not be the same, for I’ll not have the opportunity to attend as many interactive classes, spend eight hours straight in the library, or socialise with my international friends. These memories will always hold a special place in my heart.
I’ll miss sitting in engaging classes at the University of Melbourne and traveling. It’s hard to find such opportunities on a weekly basis elsewhere. I also can’t stress my love for traveling around Australia enough. Hitting the road after each intensive semester is very rewarding and mesmerising. Each city in Australia has its own charms and breathtaking natural landscapes. Travelling is what makes my time in Australia complete.
Only after coming to Australia have I realised that Cambodia’s street food is what I always look forward to. I can’t wait to eat Bai Sach Chrouk and Kuy Teav every morning.
